    Default Windows 2000 boot problem

    by user0 » Sat Sep 02, 2006 11:32 am

I have a very "old" pc with no capability to boot from cdrom drive.
One day, it died. And I need to reinstall the windows 2000.
How can I reinstall the windows 2000 back?
I only have the CD and there is no way to boot it.
I have A: drive and B: drive. (now you know ...)

You could use other working pc to create the win2000 "bootable" disks (in 3.5" format, usu. 4 disks).

Reboot the pc from A: drive and insert the win2000 CD into cdrom drive.
Repair the win2000 installation or reinstall win2000.
    Hope this helps.

maybe buying a new pc or mac.....

or update your bio setting to 'boot from CD' is another way.

    cheers,

I agree that if updating the bio setting is a "problem", then you should consider buying a pc and sleep better.
